Meet Anelise
Anelise Antunes was born in the city of Porto Alegre in the South of the beautiful country of Brazil. Growing up in the city, her mom, an excellent cook, and walker made sure the family’s organic basic food needs were addressed.
At age 12, her mom, noticing her interest in food preparation, enrolled her in her first community nutrition class with the town’s most famous Christian Nutritionist, the beginning of many. At the same time, her love for fitness – through volleyball – was also born. After retiring from volleyball in 2008, Anelise discovered a new passion when a friend introduces her to road running in 2010.
After moving to the United States, in the mid-’90s, Anelise continued her studies primarily in Languages. As a linguist, she founded a small Medical Portuguese Translation and Interpretation agency called ABAYA (Yoruba= queen mother).
For the last 11 years, Anelise has been serving her community leading running and wellness groups in the DMV area, helping people address self-care through fitness and nutrition. She is a strong and loud force for preventive health care. Anelise enjoys helping others, great food, cultures, books, travel, laughs, interesting conversation, languages, music & arts, and social justice.
She is a Nutritionist with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Purdue University Global, Marathon Runner, Christian Yogi, Vegan Chef, and a Wholistic Health Coach Certified through The Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN-NY).
